Christmas Celebrated

DRV DAV Cent  Public School, Phillaur celebrated Christmas Day on the theme caring and sharing. Students of Kids Block dressed themselves  as SANTA CLAUS. They brought different eatables and shared with their friends. They danced and sang Christmas carol. Mr Yogesh  Gambhir, Principal of the school conveyed his warm wishes to the teachers and students on the occasion of Christmas .

Fusion Music

WESTERN SOLO SONG

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur, organized Western Solo Song Competition with the heading ‘Fusion Music’.  Students from 2^nd to 8^th Std. participated in it.  Special  attraction of this program was that students exhibited their talent in playing Western Music Instruments like Keyboard, Drum, Congo, Guitar etc.  Mrs. Ritu Sharma and Amanpreet were the judges. Naman bagged first prize,  Simran got second prize  while third prize was given to Priyal and Mayank consecutively.  Rita Kalia, Vice Principal of the school felicitated the students and gave away Trophies to the winners.

DRV DAV CENTENARY PUBLIC SCHOOL, PHILLAUR, organized the closing ceremony of a two-day world tour a journey across the world . Art , culture , national emblems of 11 countries were exhibited. On the occasion of closing ceremony , H.L.Bhatia, secretary DAV CMC came from New Delhi was present. Mrs.P.P.Sharma Regional Director, Satish Sharma,Director colleges DAV, Dr.Kewal Dheer,eminent writer and social worker,Mr.Lalit Berry and Ashwani Vedhara , vice chairman, Raj Kumar Principal DMS ,Jalandhar graced the occasion. Mr. Bhatia (chief guest) appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers for their innovative ideas. Finally Yogesh Gambhir ,Principal of the school conveyed his heartiest gratitude to the guests and city residents to make the function a grand success.

CONFLUENCE OF ART & CULTURE

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur, organized an International Exhibition depicting art, culture and traditions of 11 countries of the world. In this exhibition famous buildings, special festivals and parliaments of 11 countries were exhibited. Passport and Visa formalities were compulsory to visit the exhibition. Mahatama Hansraj Kids Block of the school was converted into Dream World ‘Disney Land’ for Tiny Tots. Kids dressed them as cartoon characters. Students presented snow white, Jesus Christ Play, Cindrella Dance which kept the people spellbound. H. L. Bhatia, Secretary DAV CMC New Delhi was the Chief Guest. Regional Director Mrs P. P. Sharma, Mr. Satish Sharma, Director Colleges and Manager of the school, Sh. S. K. Malhotra (Chairman) and principals of various DAV Schools and colleges also graced the occasion. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the school conveyed his heartiest gratitude to the guests and city residents to make the function a grand success.

CLOSING CUM PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur organized the Closing-cum-Prize Distribution Ceremony of Sports Mania Week on 22nd  November, 2011. Function started with the lighting of sacred lamp. Mr. Charanjit Singh Saini, Retd. Distt. Sports Officer, Punjab Sports Deptt., Chandigarh, was the chief guest of the occasion. Mr. Rakesh Saini, Former Ranji Trophy Player graced the function. Students presented cultural programs like happy ending song, Aerobic-Dance and Gidda and enthralled all. Various fun games of different countries were played with zeal and enthusiasm. Results of Sports Mania Week are given below:

Sportsmania Week

“ SPORTS MANIA WEEK”











DRV DAV Cent. Public School, Phillaur is organizing Sports Mania Week from 16th to 21st Nov.2011. During this week Inter-House matches & Overseas Sports (Senior Section) like Tchouck ball, Badminton, Cricket, Basketball, & Handball will be played. Opening ceremony was held on 16th Nov.2011. On this occasion Mr.Surinder Kumar, DSP Jagraon lighted the pious lamp and declared the meet open. Mr.Rakesh Kumar, secretary of Tchouckball federation Punjab, graced the occasion. An impressive march past with flags followed the ceremony on the opening. Cultural programs like Aerobic dance and group dance were
performed. On the first day tchouckball and chess competitions were held. Sports Exhibition of Overseas Sports was held toencourage the students to participate in sports and know the world in a better way. Yogesh Gambhir , Principal of the school extended floral
welcome to the guests and felicitated the students.

DEEPAWALI

DEEPAWALI CELEBRTED

     DRV DAV Centenary Senior Secondary Public School, Phillaur  celebrated the Festival of Lights “Deepawali” with zeal and enthusiasm. A number of activities  were organized ahead of Diwali.  The students participated in earthen pot decoration, candle decoration, Thali decoration  and door decoration.  The students of class 6^th to 12^th Std. participated in an Inter-house Rangoli Competition. Mr. Yogesh Gambhir Principal of the school congratulated the students and staff members and appreciated the enthusiasm of students.

Sports Quiz

DRV DAV Centenary Senior Secondary public school, Phillaur organized an inter house sports quiz competition. Students from 7^th to 10^th  std took part in this competition.One of the highlight of this competition was ,the participating teams were tagged by the names of the renowned  sports personalities till date, like Kapil Dev, Leander Paes , Allen Border and Maradona.All the four teams participated with complete preparation.The four rounds were enumerated as Relationship,Visual,KBC and Buzzer rounds. The Allen Border team played in the most convincing way and fetched the winners title with trophy.  Principal of the school Mr. Yogesh Gambhir encouraged the winning team members by giving away the trophy.

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur organized World Food Fest on 17^th Oct. 2011.  Students from 7^th to 9^th Std. participated in it and presented sumputuous dishes of different 19 countries.  On this occasion, cultures and flags of different countries  were discussed and students prepared Shahi Kabab, Tamyam Soup, Shorba, Noodles, Kivi cake. Pulao, Gatta Curry, Biryani, French fries etc. Raj Kumar Sehgal, Principal of DMS Jalandhar graced the occasion and released the booklet ‘World Food Fest’.  Yogesh Gambhir Principal of the school chrished the dishes and said that by organizing such kinds of fests, we know the food habits and cultures of other countries.

A step to get rid of pollution

DRV DAV Centenary Public School ,Phillaur organized a rally to make the people aware about the pollution being caused by burning of crop residue,which causes pollution to a great extent.It results in loss of organic matter on one hand and on the other hand friendly micro organism present in the upper layer of the earth also gets killed.School children were carried out a march on 13.10.2011 from 9.00am to 11.00am in the nearly areas of the school,carrying playcards/banners appealing the farmers to stop the practice of burning of crop residues and to use other eco friendly ways to dispose it.

It is a matter of pride for the DAV family,Phillaur that Mrs. Rita Kalia, vice Principal of DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur has been awarded with the outstanding teacher's award by CIEE (Centre for Innovation & Excellence in Education),for her untiring efforts done in the field of education. Principal,Mr. Yogesh Gambhir felicitate her on her grand success & said that  the school feel proud to have such an efficient teacher, who has brought laurel to the institutions.All the staff members also congratulated her.Mrs. Rita Kalia, who has been associated with DAV Phillaur for last 26 years feels that the experience that she acquired while working in the institution is the primary reason for getting this award.
