MARATHON ORGANISED

               

 DRV DAV Centenary Senior Secondary Public School, Phillaur organized marathon in which students participated enthusiastically. Students, running in white uniform were looking as if they were giving the message of world peace. On this occasion Mr. Matthew Cullen from England visited the school. He is an Educator, Psychologist and multitask person who has established himself internationally. A seminar on goal setting was also conducted in the school Mr. Matthew advised the students to set the goals and fulfill them by adopting positive and determined attitude. Yogesh Gambhir Principal of the school welcomed the foreigner guest and presented him trophy. Visit of such a multi task person is really very helpful for the students to proceed in their lives.

PATRIOTIC SONG COMPETITION

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur organized a singing competition to rejuvenate the spirit of patriotism among the students.  Students sang patriotic songs with great zeal and fervour.  Yogesh Gambhir Principal of the school advised the students that they should think about their duties first rather than rights and keep themselves ready to sacrifice wholeheartedly.

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur organized an inter-house Dancing Competition to pay tribute to great souls. Students presented dance on the famous songs of Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna & Shammi Kapoor.   Students kept all spell bound by their stunning performance. Overall trophy was given to Prosperity House.  Some individual prizes were also given.Yogesh Gambhir Principal of the school appreciated the students for their fascinating performance.

TEEJ CELEBRATED

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur celebrated Teej Festival enthusiastically.  Girls from 6^th to 10^th std. participated in it.  Colourfully dressed students presented cultural programmes like Gidda, Bhangra, Folk Songs, Folk Dances etc.  Stalls of eatables were installed for refreshment of the children.  Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the school encouraged the students and said that such celebrations keep us in touch with our cultural traditions.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur held its investiture ceremony  for the new academic session 2012-13.  The function began with  prayer and a motivated song.  Jagriti Jasra,  Devan Kunj and Chandanpreet Kaur were selected as Head Boy,  Head Girl & Deputy Head Girl respectively.  Other House Captains, Sports Captains and Cultural Captains were also selected.  All the office bearers  were adorned with badges and sashes.  Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the School advised the students to understand their responsibilities and shoulder them efficiently.  He congratulated the Head Boy and other House Captains of all the four houses, Dignity, Honesty, Prosperity & Unity for their selection.

SEMINAR ON JUNK FOOD & HEART DISEASES

A seminar on Junk Food & Heart Diseases was conducted in DRV DAV Public School, Phillaur to make the students  aware about the harmful effects of Junk food.   Ms. Shweta Gopika Chopra was the event manager from BBC Heart Care Pruthi Hospital, Jalandhar.  She informed the students through projector how oily,  spicy and saturated junk foods are harmful for our heart.  If we want to keep ourselves healthy, more and more green vegetables, fruits, fibres should be involved in our daily diet.  Smoking and use of alcohol is also very dangerous for the heart.  Daily exercise, Yoga can play wonders in our life.  Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the school welcomed the guest and thanked her for providing such a fruitful session to the students and teachers.

 SAVE EARTH, SAVE LIFE

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur organized an exhibition on the awareness on increasing harm to earth due to global warming. Use of different kinds of pollutants, excessive use of plastic and chemicals are the main reasons for global warming.  Loss of earth means loss to inhabitants of earth, like men, animals etc. Safety to earth means safety to ourselves. Students displayed the charts in the exhibition by giving this message.  Eco-friendly bags were displayed to stop the use of plastic bags.  If this message reaches from one to another, whole society and the whole world, only then safe life will be possible on earth. Yogesh Gambhir Principal of the school emphasized that all of us should define our contribution by fulfilling our responsibilities.

GLOBAL VOTE

                          

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur organized Global Vote 2012. About 1300 students participated in the Global Vote for the world’s children prize for the rights of the child.  WCPRC is based on the UN Child Convention and strengthens voices of children, connecting them together across countries and continents and helps them to demand honour for the rights of the child.  It holds an annual vote for global candidates who have made magnificent contribution to protect and promote the rights of the children. Children cast their votes with zeal and enthusiasm.  Students from third to +1 Std. took part in the global vote.

On 17^th April, 2012, DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur celebrated ‘Health Day’.  All the students of Class-V participated in Salad Making Competition and presented beautifully decorated salad plates.  Winners were awarded with certificates.  Principal Yogesh Gambhir addressed the students and told them the importance of green salad in our life.  It increases the immunity  of our  body and keeps us fit.

WORLD BOOK DAY

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur celebrated World Book Day to get the children excited and enthusiastic about the books.  Students from Nursery to +2 Standard participated in it.  A special programme was organized in which students performed themselves as books of different authors and poets.  They spoke about the books.  A Book Fair was also organized to encourage the students to explore the knowledge about literature and inculcate the reading habits among them.  Students really enjoyed the day and came out with a new desire of reading books for pleasure.

HAWAN PERFORMED

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur organized a ‘Hawan’ on 2^nd  April, 2012 to commemorate the very first day of the new academic session to seek blessings of the Almighty for bright future of the students and tremendous development of the institution. Students from Nursery to 12^th Std. participated in it.  Prasad was distributed among the students and staff members. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the School  extended his warm welcome to the new students and encouraged them to work hard.

Celebration of Basant Panchmi

On 27 January 2012 DRV DAV Centenary Public School Phillaur celebrated Basant Panchami. The kids dressed themselves in beautiful yellow clothes and cast magic spell on everybody, out of them following students have been selected as Mr Basant and Miss Basant.

                                     All the above students have been awarded with Memento. Moreover, students also participated in flower making and Basant scene making competition. Everybody basked the kite flying. Besides Principal greeted everybody and exchanged warm wishes.

Republic Day

On 25 January 2012 DRV DAV Centenary Public School Phillaur celebrated Republic day. On this day students participated in group dance, group songs, recited poetry and famous slogans.

The vice principal,Mrs. Rita Kalia hosted the National Flag. Besides she greeted everybody and exchanged warm wishes.

Chinese New Year

On 23 January 2012 DRV DAV Centenary Public School Phillaur celebrated Chinese New Year. Students participated in so many craft activities like Paper monster, Paper dragon, New year greetings etc. The party was held in the school in which students enjoyed Chinese food like noodles , choopsy etc. They relished the party and exchanged greeting with their friends of China..

FUSION OF WORLD CULTURE

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur, organized an International Multicultural Extravaganza & International Exchange Program under Punjab Cultural Promotion Council to promote universal brotherhood and international friendship.  Ensembles from USA & Poland visited the school with S. Davinder Singh Chhina, Director Punjab Cultural Promotion Council, Artists performed songs and dances of their countries.  They kept all spell-bound by their excellent performance. Students of the host school also presented cultural programs to exhibit a glimpse of the rich culture of Punjab.  Mr. Yashpal Vedhara lighted the sacred lamp to start the function.  Lohri was celebrated with the foreign artists by burning the bonefire. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the school conveyed his cordial gratitude for this cultural exchange and presented mementoes to the guests and ensembles.  Mr.  Ashwani Vedhara, Mr. Amit Vedhara and Karan Sharma, Principal of DAV College were present to grace the occasion.
