Three days Exhibition on Sustainable Development Goals

"The First Step Towards Change is Awareness and
With Awareness reality shifts"
When learning about the environment’s declining health it is easy to feel discouraged, but what keeps us fighting for a healthy world is the future of our children. They should not have to inherit our environmental problems and in order to keep their future bright, spreading awareness is imperative.
Hence to make the public and students aware about some of the burning issues related to the environment , the school strided towards the UNO goals of Sustainable Development , so that a better and sustainable future can be attained for all.
Environment is green, but we need to make it clean.
“If you are sensitive towards your surroundings and identify the real problems, fruitful innovations come up naturally,”
Therefore, the school decided to commence the project from 29th Nov on 'The world Pollution Day' till 2nd Dec on 'The National Stop Pollution Day' in the form of Exhibition.
During the three day Exhibition ,Young enthusiastic participants from 3rd to 6th grade showcased the static and working models covering the following UNO goals: Goal no. 6 Clean water and Sanitation
goal no. 13 Climate action
goal no. 14 Life below water
goal no.15 Life on Land.They came up with great innovative ideas on how these problems can be handled and prevented which were clearly demonstrated and explained with the help of their models. Students made still models, working models, charts and posters to present their topics.
All the classes were beautifully adorned according to the theme of the exhibition and students were dressed in thematique attires .
Through this exhibition, students not only learned about various environmental problems and their effects on our life but also took Pledge to protect "The Mother Earth" from such disastrous issues.
Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir appreciated the students and encouraged and motivated them to build a pollution free environment.

Splendid Performance in Kabaddi Tournament


Where peace flows with the wind, Where happiness strolls in the soil, Where trouble sprints in the form of sweat ,and where they  know the purpose of their heartbeat.
To substantiate this, our girls kabaddi  team  under-19  proved their worth in DAV National ‘kabaddi tournament’  held at DAV public school, Thermal Colony, Panipat  from 27th  to 29th November .The players put  hard work ,displayed a spectrum of courage , exhibited immense dedication and abiding passion for the game and bagged 2nd position & brought proud moments for the school . Dr. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the School  felicitated the winners for their astounding performance and bringing laurels to the institution.

Constitution Day


The existence and successful survival of ‘Democracy’ in such diverse conditions is the most celebrated fact about our country and constitution is its backbone. To reinforce the significance and importance of constitution the government of India declared 26th of November as Constitution Day . The occasion was also celebrated in the premises of the School in all its solemnity. It was marked by the conduct of a ‘Special Assembly’ in which an oath on Preamble was taken by the students. The assembly ground echoed with the words” we the people of India…………..’’ At 11:00 AM mass reading of the Preamble was also done. Students were apprised that 26 November has its own importance in the history of independent India because on this day in 1949, the Constitution of India was adopted and it came in to effect on 26 January, 1950. Therefore, marking the dawn of a new era , to acknowledge the contribution of the framers of the Constitution and to aggravate the people regarding the prominent values, the whole country is celebrating Constitution Day. Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir stated that the flavour of tricolour should not be depicted only through our words but also through our actions. Hence, he encouraged students to perceive the intended meaning of the Preamble and respect and follow the constitution in true spirit.

Motivational Talk with XII Students

An interactive session was held between Dr. Yogesh Gambhir, worthy Principal of the school and students of XII class which culminated into a pep talk wherein fruitful tips to evade stress and harnessing time to optimal utilisation were provided out of the vast repertoire of knowledge and experience. Dr. Gambhir mulled over the preparation strategy and study plan of the students; comparing it with the partly rigid and flexible nature of Indian Constitution. He dwelt on the significance of being a smart worker and also diligent one, thus conflating hard work with smart work as success is wrought with the amalgamation of both.
He exhorted that different emojis expressing sadness , happiness and confusion must be put to use in order to grapple with students' comprehension of the concepts taught.
Instead of merely framing schedule of exams, what is vital is to adhere to it. The session was informative, interactive and a real stress buster which would stand in good stead for students to be better equipped to take exams in a positive way, emulating exams with festivity as they satiated their queries.
The session ended with a note of positivity and students received good luck wishes from the venerated Principal.

Video Conference on-" Peace and Reconciliation"

As the world is grappling with the issue of unrest and upheavals at various levels of existence, a video conferencing session was organised by Generation Global, 'Tony Blair's faith Foundation', seeking solution for the same on the most topical issue of the present day modern society "Peace and Reconciliation", the screening of the video conferencing session was held in the school.
Ms. Pupjana Kole, country coordinator for Egypt, was the facilitator of the session. The screening session was informative as it probed deep into the various multifarious aspects of pervading unrest and sought solutions of peaceful reconciliation of the same.
The session was interactive and the students adequately resolved queries of each other.They shared examples from their daily life which made the VC more exceptional. Students mirth was explicitly gauged through their expressions as they were illumined about peace and it's significance in the world order.
The school is beholden to Generation Global for providing such platform to the students wherein the students can come together and voice their opinions on much needed topics like peace.
Principal, Dr Yogesh Gambhir impelled the students to do their best to create peace around the world to make it a better place to live and encouraged the students to participate in such activities.

Science Model selected for National Level

Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge.'
Science provides an insight into the complexities of life and outer space. The human mind envisages endless possibilities to unravel the mysteries of this world . If given right direction to the students, science can drive them towards positive aspect .
Considering the prominance of science to ameliorate the life on earth, CBSE Organised Regional Level Science Model Exhibition on 20th November, 2019 at Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School , Amritsar. Two students namely Urvashi and Sandli of XI (sci) participated in this exhibition .They prepared model of ECO Conservator with the theme 'Cleanliness and Health'. The model aims to clean and purify the water so that water is used in water vending machine which provides water when plastic bottle is put inside it instead of coin. At the same time it provides clean and fresh water and also collect plastic for recycle and reuse. Out of 115 schools 24 have been selected for the National level and students of our school bagged third position. Principal , Dr. Yogesh Gambhir felicitated the students and their teachers for such achievement and encouraged them to always make use of their knowledge for the welfare of humanity.

pledge to save water

"Water is to save, otherwise you will crave"
The availability of water on the earth has blessed this planet with the life. Without water, we cannot imagine the life here. Water is the most precious element in this world and sign of life. So to make students realise the significance of this life saviour resource, school students took pledge to save water.
In concatenation of events celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji , Vidhya Bharti Punjab in collaboration with Sarva Shiksha Samiti and Prakash Roy Kaushal Devi Yadgari Trust, initiated to aware public and propel them to take Pledge to ‘Save Water’ on 16th November 2019 . Under this programme, on 16th November, 2019 at 11 a.m. 2113 students, 72 teachers, 22 parents and 36 others took pledge to save water ‘an elixir’. On this occasion Mrs Reeta Kalia, retired Vice-Principal was present who administered the oath and motivated students not to waste water in their routine chores and acquainted them regarding ways to preserve this very precious resource that has made the earth unique. On the whole 2243 people present in the school promised to save water. Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir distinctly appreciated the efforts of Vidhya Bharti Punjab and highly felt honoured on being provided this notable opportunity that enabled the school to enlighten the public regarding saving water.

Mega Alumni Meet – A Trip to Nostalgia
A coming back to a place that shaped the trajectory of one’s own life is a priceless and unexplainable experience.
An Annual Flagship event , Mega Alumni Meet 2019 was organised by the School on 16th November ,2019 with the objective to rekindle the memories and relive the school life . The day has been recorded as a red letter day in the history of the school for being organising the first Alumni meet .
The school resounded with the sparkling cheers and chirping voices of 50 Alumni that took pride in their alma mater, and think of it with happiness, gratitude and nostalgia . Presence of Mrs Suman Sharma, Former Principal of the school added more thrill and fervent to the function. Students interacted with their former teachers, fellow students and the present batch of young minds that are ready to move into the outside world.
The function commenced with seeking blessings of Almighty and expressing reverence to the Supreme for his grace that enabled to witness prosperous and growing lives of Alumni. To fill fun and frolic to the function ,fun games were arranged that engulfed the hall with gaiety. Tiny tots of the school enthralled the audience with sizzling dance performances. Alumni verklempt while sharing their memories and experiences of their school life. Alumni who were unable to come showed their bonding with the school by sending their greetings , best wishes and sharing their feelings. Students were overwhelmed to meet their teachers and excited to revisit the familiar place where they had studied and were shown various developments that had taken place since then.
Principal , Dr Yogesh Gambhir felicitated all Alumni for creating Alumni Association and motivated them to donate their time and blessings to their Alma mater as he believes that time and blessings are more precious than money. Hence , students penned down their remarks and best wishes for their alma mater . He also expressed gratitude to Alumni for accepting the invitation and making the event a grand success.
Meeting old friends who travelled in different directions and sharing the life experiences with them made the coming back an unforgettable event.

Halloween celebrations

Halloween is the festival celebrated with fun and frolic as the tiny tots get decked up in different guises; the beauty of which no one can emulate. Halloween was celebrated in the school on 15 November, 2019. The tiny tots of nursery class and even teachers transformed themselves in different spooky costumes , emanating eerie feelings all around; all behoving the occasion. Adding to the ghostly atmosphere , even the classrooms were decorated on halloween theme .
Many songs matching Halloween theme were played and sung. A Treasure Hunt was also organised in which students had to locate pirate’s treasure. A game Trick-or-Treat was played involving the faculty.
Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir appreciated the activity ,which disseminated mirth and gaiety all around.

Workshop on Career Counselling

“Opportunities don’t happen, you create them.”
A workshop on Career Counselling was held in the premises of the School on 15 November 2019. Captain Munish Juneja was the Resource Person. He was welcomed by Mrs. Surinder Kaur , coordinator of the school .The students of classes X and XII attended the session and added to their knowledge content about Merchant Navy . Being the representative of Applied Research International (ARI ), he guided the students to build a career in Merchant Navy as the field is practical and challenging and the cadets immerse into the training environment which moulds them into future Marine officers. He further explained eligibility criteria and job prospects through a PowerPoint Presentation. The students’ queries were satisfactorily answered. The session was interactive and highly informative.

Celebration of Childrens' Day

Live, Laugh, Learn and keep the child within you alive.With the same thought Children's Day was celebrated on 14 November, 2019 at DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur with gaiety and fervour . The day is celebrated to pay tribute to the legendary freedom fighter and our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, popularly known as chacha Nehru. As it is generally seen, students perform for teachers on various occasions, but today on Children’s Day teachers gave various performances like dances, dramas for the students in order to express their love and care. This day is commemorated with immense joy and enthusiasm . The celebrations began with a prayer performed by the teachers. The teachers were dressed in a variety of traditional attires. They sang and enacted on stage to entertain the students. The campus was buzzing with excitement and joy of colourfully dressed children, bringing a festive look to the school. Principal ,Dr. Yogesh Gambhir appreciated the teachers for their tremendous performances, love and care for the children and apprised the children about the teachings of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru

Rendezvous with Alumnus: Mentor Mentee Interactive session




Mr. Jeevandeep Singh, an Alumnus of DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur visited the school premises on 13th November, 2019 and delivered a motivational lecture to the students of 10th standard, in an exclusive rendezvous with ongoing students. Mr. Jeevandeep Singh, passed his matriculation in the year 2008 from the school. After matriculation, he pursued his higher education by notching up graduation degree in psychology and Masters in English and Social Work. He is currently serving as program officer, Hoshiarpur Zone, with National AIDS Control Organization. He, earlier, worked as Divisional coordinator, with National Tobacco Control Program.
In his pep talk, he reiterated on the significance of painstaking labor that is pre-requisite for their academic excellence. He also dwelt on the inculcation of self-confidence. He embedded academic excellence with the physical fitness as without achieving that academic excellence cannot be attained. He also addressed the queries of the students. Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir expressed his gaiety over the accomplishments of Mr. Jeevandeep Singh. He opined that it is a splendid feeling being the mentor in one’s own alma mater.

Celebration of 550th Parkash Parav

Celebration of 550th Parkash Parav
Parkash Parav of Guru Nanak Dev ji was celebrated in the school premises on 9th November 2019.
To mark the celebration, 550 students and staff performed the Path of Shri Japji Sahab ji with great devotion. 550th Parkash Parav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji was celebrated with the co-operation of school and transport department with huge devotion and excitement to seek the blessings of Almighty for the welfare of the mankind. Holy Path of Sri Sukhmani Sahib was performed. The school premises resounded with the holy hymns sung in the praise of Almighty. All the students and the staff paid obeisance to the sacred Guru Granth Sahib ji . This was followed by community kitchen “Langar”, which was served with full fervour and devotion by 12th standard Students. Students and the staff paid true and glowing tribute to Guru Nanak Dev ji by dissemination of his divine message of harmony, humility and equality, which he exhorted all to imbibe. Students pledged to adhere by Guru Nanak’s philosophy of righteousness. Students were intimated with teachings of Guru ji and were encouraged to follow them in their life. Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir felicitated all on the 550th Birth anniversary of Guru ji and he further stated that Guru Nanak Dev ji represents all religions being the connecting bond as people from every religion and sect endeavour to tread the path laid by him.

Health Check-Up of Tiny Tots

Health Check-Up of Tiny Tots in DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur.
“Good health begins with prevention and that all starts with the individual.”
Health is wealth! Quoted by a learned man, the statement stands true in all respects. Regular health check-ups do not just inform about exposure to potential diseases but also indicate good habits that one must continue with. Taking into account the importance of health and inculcating the habit of regular health check- ups among the students at tender age , Health check-up for Primary and pre-Primary students was organised by the school on 8th November, 2019.The camp was initiated with dental awareness talk, educating students about common dental ailments, especially stressing on tooth decay and measures to prevent them. Apart from it, eye check up was also done. Students were made aware about the less usage of mobile phones as the harmful rays affect eyes. Students got an opportunity to interact with the doctors.Dr. Yogesh Gambhir, principal of the school extended his gratitude to the doctors and opined that early checkups are necessary, which help prevent cavities, tooth decay and lead to healthy life.

Tremendous Performance in DAV National Sports (Zonal Level)

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly to achieve the goal. Proving this, Vaibhav Kumar of IX D exhibited his commendable performance in
DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar in the DAV National Sports (Zonal Level) and clinched the silver Medal in Taekwondo Weight Category 48. Dr. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the School felicitated Vaibhav Kumar to prove his mettle in sports field and bring laurels to the institution.

Inter-house Folk Dance Competition.

Dance is the timeless interpretation of life, emotions, culture and tradition. And to show the versatility and importance of tradition of any state, dance is the best option. To inculcate the value of team spirit in students, an Inter House Folk Dance Competition was held in the School on 5 November, 2019. Students of classes first, second and third participated in competition with great zeal and enthusiasm. They showed a remarkable team spirit, coordination and confidence on the stage. Their beautiful attires and props showed the diversity of India. Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir addressed the students about Unity In Diversity. The competition was ended on the note that winning or losing is a part, but participation is more important.

White Week from 28 Oct to 2Nov,2019 was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm to make the tiny tots of nursery recognize white colour . Teachers and students came to school in pretty white attires.The classrooms were beautifully adorned with the theme of white. The white coloured objects were brought to the classroom. Many activities and games pertaining to white colour were organised for the kids. Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir appreciated this practical learning experience by celebrating white day for the children which was very enjoyable.

Industrial Visit of Class XII Commerce

"Knowledge becomes wisdom only after it has been put into practical use."
The school always initiates in pouring practical and informative knowledge to the students for their better understanding in their respective fields. Therefore, the students of class XII commerce visited GNA Gears Limited, Hoshiarpur Road on 2nd November,2019 for gaining practical knowledge of production process and marketing concepts related to their studies. They related all the theoretical concepts, studied by them in classes to the practical field work. They were addressed by the guides of GNA University about their future opportunities and courses which they can opt. Students were divided in groups and guides showed them the whole process of purchasing raw material to packaging and selling. They were made aware about the foreign machines and techniques used during the process.
Students inquired about their queries which made the whole visit interactive. It surely became the life time learning experience for students which will help them in their future professions.

Exhortation on Vedic Values and Character Building

Knowledge gained in school is only one goal of education. The primary goal of education is to enable students to provide knowledge and moral values.
Considering the imperativeness of Character Building, An Exhortation, emphasizing the significance of vedic knowledge and moral values in life was held in the School on 1st November 2019. Mr. Roshan Lal Arya , State Secretory of Ved Prachar Mandal and Shri Jyoti Swaroop Kamboj, Secretory, Ved Prachar Mandal (Ludhiana west) visited the school.Mr. Roshan Lal Arya highlighted that every day students are exposed to violence, dishonesty and other social problems in the media and the real world. Moreover ,with the advent of technology ,there is deterioration of moral values and good habits among students as they are highly engrossed with latest gadgets.
He explained students that Moral values are prerequisite to protect life and are respectful of the dual life value of self and others. Providing a brief knowledge about vedas, he said that Vedas reveal a way of life. Students of 5th, 6th and 7th std. apprenticed themselves with priceless knowledge to acquire good attitude and positive behaviour in life to lead a righteous and successful life. Principal, Dr Yogesh Gambhir encouraged the students to apply the gained knowledge and values in their daily life to avoid any sort of inconvenience.

Diwali Jollification & Japji Sahib Path in the School

"Diwali is not simply about lighting diyas, bursting crackers and relishing good food. It is also about enlightenment of soul and burning all bad times. It is about coming over the darkness of ignorance and stepping into a cleaner and brighter world."
DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur celebrated The festival of Lights, 'DIWALI' with great fervour. A special morning assembly was held and students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Students performed Dance and Play spreading the strong message of eco friendly diwali. On this auspicious occasion , Students of V and VI Std. exhibited their talent in Rangoli making competition where as,
Students of IIl to Vl Std. participated in candle and thali decoration competition.
Besides this, to commemorate the 550 Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Japji sahib Path from the Guru Granth Sahib was chanted by 550 students creating a blissful environment and spreading tranquility and peace all around.
Dr. Yogesh Gambhir Principal of the school, wished all the students and staff members, a Happy and Safe Diwali, giving the message of an eco friendly Diwali by encouraging the students to avoid bursting crackers and saving the environment from pollution.

Self-Defence and Fitness Training

A fun- filled and recreational Self-Defence and Fitness training event was organised in the premises of DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur on 16 Oct., 2019. The event became more enlightened by the presence of a talented personality Mr. Harpreet Singh alias Vicky Deol, who had won many records especially in flying pushups. Mr. Harpreet is the record holder of maximum thumb push up ( 69 thumb push ups in one minute) and recorded his name in the following :
1- India Book of record
2- Asia Book of record
3- World Kings, World Record Union
4- Limca Book of Record
5- Golden Book of world record.
Currently, he is attempting to create another record in Guinness Book of World Record. Besides , he has been conferred with many awards and honours from several institutions and social organisations at the state and national level. His achievements have also been acknowledged by Member of Parliament for Ealing Southall, U.K. and by Ms. Keren Kirks Alexender, Mayor of Salisbury, USA.
This fantastic event began with a fun game for testing the alertness and concentration of students’ minds. Mr. Vicky Deol, amazed everyone through his skills and techniques. He gave training of fitness and self- defence to 450 girls (std.6th to 12th) of the host school . Many students enthusiastically performed the self-defence techniques by imitating the trainer. Different techniques like rolling, kicking, pressing the points etc. were taught. The two hours session instilled confidence and self- esteem in the girls to face the challenging situations.
Mr. Vicky Deol marked the end of the event through his motivating words that Age is not a barrier for physical fitness. A healthy lifestyle can change everything in a positive way. Dr. Yogesh Gambhir , Principal of the host school commended the guest for showing his energetic stamina and motivating the students.

Two Days Capacity Building Training on- Differential Instructions and Assessment

Differentiated instruction is an approach to instruction in which the teacher adapts the content, process, and product of lessons in accordance with each student's readiness, learning style, and interests. In differentiated instruction, the learning goals are the same for the entire class, but the required tasks, instructional approach, and materials used vary according to the needs of the individual students. Differentiated instruction is not a single strategy, but rather an approach to teaching that incorporates a variety of strategies
Because "one size does not fit all," it is imperative that a variety of teaching strategies be used in a differentiated classroom like direct instruction, inquiry-based learning, cooperative learning based on grouping small teams of students heterogeneously according to ability, interest, background, etc.
To create, enhance and develop good teaching skills and better classroom management, a Two Day Capacity Building Workshop on Differential Instruction and Assessment was organized under the aegis of DAVCAE for the teachers of various DAV schools of Jalandhar zone under the directions of Dr. Mrs. Rashmi Vij (A.R.O.). First session was attended by all the teachers in Police DAV school, Jalandhar, Mrs. Rashmi Vij (A.R.O.) was the resource person. She addressed the teachers with her inspiring words and explained differential learning through PPT. Aims and objectives of differential learning were discussed. Difference between traditional classroom and differentiated classroom were discussed. Every child is unique and special, makes differentiation a requirement for daily classroom practices. Classroom should be more interactive , less teacher centered , more interesting according to the cognitive needs of the child. Principles of differentiation of learning like learning environment, quality curriculum, essential knowledge of subject and pedagogy were discussed. Overall the session was brainstorming and enriching.
Second day workshops were held at different DAV Schools like Police DAV school Jalandhar , DRV DAV School Phillaur, Dayanand Model school Model Town Jalandhar , LJN DAV Model School Jalandhar. In this capacity building program on Differential Instruction and Assessment ,teachers discussed the syllabus and various techniques and methodologies of differential learning. Various activities were conducted in different sessions like brain storming ,classroom-management to make the study easier and interesting. Ms Gargi Sharma, Ms Jyoti Singh Gulati ( Police DAV school Jalandhar), Ms Upasana (Dayanand Model school Model Town Jalandhar) were the Resource Persons at DRV DAV School Phillaur , Mrs Geeta Dhingra,Mrs Ranju Bala, Mrs Ramandip Kaur and Mrs Oorja Sharma (DRV DAV Centenary Public School Phillaur) were the resource Persons at Police DAV Public School,Jalandhar, Mrs. Seema Bhanot(DRV DAV Centenary Public School Phillaur) was the Resource Person at DAV Model school Model Town Jalandhar ,Mrs Aanchal Ms Sandeep (DRV DAV School Phillaur) were the resource persons at LJN DAV Model School Jalandhar. Mr. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the School thanked all the Experts for the successful organization of the seminar and urged the participants to share their experiences in the classrooms and take benefit from the workshop.

Closing Ceremony of 59th General Conference and All India Schools Festival

The journey is never ending. There's always going to be growth, improvement, adversity; you just got to take it all in and do what's right, continue to grow, continue to live in the moment.
With the same thought, 59th General Conference and All India Schools Festival came to its graceful four days closure on 6th October, 2019 at DRV DAV Centenary Public School , Phillaur. For the last four days students and teachers from all over India (Bihar, Chattishgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Tailangana, Odissa, Meghalaya) participated in various activities like Solo Dance, Group Dance, Painting, Street Play, One Act play, Declamation etc. with great zeal and enthusiasm and created an intercultural awareness among each other , which will enable them to be future global citizens through Peace March with the motto of cleanliness and instigation, Bone fire including city tour were the main attractions. Students attended plenary sessions with very thought provoking topics. They also brought cultures together to reduce the barriers of communication and remove stereotypes.
Sh. Santokh Chaudhary, MP was the chief guest and Mr. Vikramjit Singh, General Secretary Punjab Pradesh Congress was the guest of honour. He praised the host school for providing quality education as well as such platforms to the students where they can exchange their culture and knowledge. Students of DAV School , Phillaur, in different cultural attires performed on various dance beats in which they depicted diverse dance forms of India. Chief Guest Sh. Santokh Singh Chaudhary and Mrs. Nina Jain honoured the winners with prizes. Mr Tapan Bhanot , Mr. Makhaan Singh Khaira, Mr. Lala Kishan Lal, Ms.Gurpreet kaur (Member of Zila Parishad) and Members of the host school were the part of the fest.
Mr. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the school welcomed the chief guests and thanked USO team for cooperation and team spirit. It was great! Vibrant! and created a globalised environment for all the participants of the fest. The victory lies in building international bridges, inspiring love for other cultures, languages and open minds! All the participants enjoyed the fest. The fest ended with the foot- tapping and shoulder- shaking Bhangra and with a final applause.

Inauguration ceremony of 59th General Conference and All India Schools Festival

9th General Conference and All India Schools Festival organised by United Schools Organisation commenced on 3rd October,2019 in DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur. United schools organisation aims to advance the social, cultural and moral standard of schools across India to global levels, by providing schools access to extra curricular test ,seminars ,conferences, competitions and campaigns on a national platform. It provides great exposure to the students and chance to perceive various cultures of India. Students get myriad of opportunities to demonstrate their talent, which is a stepping stone to achieve greater things in life.
The ceremony began with lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest Mr Tapan Bhanot, Executive Magistrate, Phillaur , Guest of Honour Dr. Rashmi Vij, Principal Police DAV Jalandhar cum Assistant Regional Officer Jalandhar Zone, Ms Nina Jain, General Secretary of USO, Mr Vijay Kumar Mehra ( treasurer ,USO) ,Mr K.V. Thyagrajan ( Vice President, USO) along with the Principal of the school , Dr. Yogesh Gambhir . Mrs Jolly from USO made the Constitutional announcement and Mr K.V. Thayagrajan , Vice President presented the Presidential address. Students invoke almighty for His blessings in the form of melodious Prayer.
Students of the school mesmerised the audience with sizzling dance performance . The Chief guest Mr Tapan Bhanot apprised the importance of such events and congratulated the school for organising such events for students. Guest of honour Dr. Rashmi Vij motivated students to always take part in such competitions as they help to develop overall personality. Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir welcomed all the guests , students and teachers who came from different parts of India. He assured the students that the festival would provide them an enriching and stimulating experience which would become their everlasting memory. They will get new friends and learn lot from each other. He further wished all the students good luck for the coming competitions.

With the mounting environmental hazard being insurmountable, our nation India has been vehemently advocating the elimination of single-use plastic for long stint of time and our honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has on several international platforms underlined the significance of having a blanket ban on the use of all plastic products.
According to the Ministry of Environment affairs, about 20,000 tonnes of plastic waste is generated every day in the country, out of which only 13,000-14000 tonnes are collected. Therefore ,The FIT India Movement has been launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 29th August, 2019. Inspired by honourable Prime Minister’s vision to make India Plastic free, DRV DAV Centenary Public School , Phillaur organised Fit India Plogging Run on 2nd October, 2019 to the areas contiguous to the school where the coterie of teachers and sweepers garnered plastic trash by visiting homes, streets and open spaces along the path of run. They made the public aware of the ill-effects of using plastic. They motivated the public that it‘s the time to say"goodbye" to single-use plastic and urged people to attempt curbing its use. They encouraged them to ban all types of plastic bags, thermocol disposable cutlery and discourage the use of artificial banners, flags, flowers, water bottles, plastic folders, etc. The Principal of the school, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir applauded the efforts of the teachers and claimed that it would be a befitting tribute to the Father of the Nation. Also, the teachers felt a sense of satisfaction after doing a little towards making their surroundings clean.

GREEN DAY CELEBRATION BY TINY TOTS

Nursery students of DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur celebtared 'Green Day ' with great zeal and enthusiasm so that they can recognise the green colour i.e. the colour of prosperity in their lives .Teachers and students came to school in pretty green attires .Classrooms were decorated beautifully according to the theme .The green colour objects from surroundings were brought to the classroom. Many activities and games pertaining to green colour were organised for the kids. Plantation activity was done by the students to gain more knowledge regarding green colour and preserving environment. Mr.Yogesh Gambhir , Principal of the school appreciated this practical learning experience and motivated the children to grow more trees.

Awareness campaigns to limit the use of Single Use Plastic- Under "Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign"

Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2019 was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 11th September which aims to reinforce ‘sanitation as everyone’s
business’ and is focused on plastic waste management as its key theme.
Eco Club students & teachers of the school keep a check on segregation of waste in the school done at different sources-playground, canteen, classrooms, corridors, laboratory, library, washrooms etc. Students put their waste pens at waste Pen collection Center. Plastic is then collected by Eco club and helping hands of the school and is sent to recycling Unit.
Rally was organized to aware the community to limit the use of thermocol / single use plastic such as plastic bags, plastic cutlery, bottles etc. and the people of nearby areas were awared about the alternates of single use plastic. People were told that instead of plastic bags, they can use paper bag, jute bag, cloth bag etc. people were awared through Social Media also.

under "Hubs of Learning-Transforming Education Collectively",Students & Teachers of CJS Public school,Jalandhar,Visited Atal Tinkering Lab of DRV DAV School

On 30 Aug.,2019 Students of CJS Public school,Jalandhar, visited DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur . Twenty students of class VIII along with their 2 teachers visited the host school. Under "Hubs of Learning- Transforming Education collectively", students participated in scientific and technological activities in ATL and learnt many innovative things. Mrs. Ranju Bala and Mr. Shiv Kumar dwelled on the purpose of establishment of Atal Tinkering Lab. They made the subject interesting by the use of arduino Software and 3D printing. Students stated that they were benefited by learning innovative ,scientific and technological advances which would help them in the long run. Principal, Mr Yogesh Gambhir stated that in the age of technology such innovative activities provide elevating experience to the students and results in their overall growth for future endeavors.

Great Experience & Learning----'Fit India Movement'launched

DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur followed the footsteps of honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi by witnessing ‘Fit India Movement’  Programme in the campus on 29 August,2019. The event took place at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi .  The motto behind is to be away from our lifestyle diseases which lead us towards abnormal blood pressure, anxiety, depression and obesity. After a brilliant and vivid presentation of India's indigenous martial art forms, dances and sports, PM Modi paid tribute to Major Dhyan  Chand, a great sportsperson for making the world amazed with his fitness, stamina, and hockey stick. It was a moment of pride that this movement is being launched on the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, our hockey wizard.He opined that though everyone is aware about the necessity of fitness yet it is to be started as a movement as there is indifference towards fitness issues today. It should become an integral part of daily life. The prime minister congratulated the winners of the national sports awards and praised India's sporting achievements as the players used to give new wings to our aspirations and make the country confident and proud. He also suggested some simple tips by which a person can become healthy in his/her day to day life.“Fit India movement”, launched on the occasion of the National Sports Day, aims to encourage people to inculcate physical activity and sports in their everyday lives. Mr. Yogesh Gambhir, Principal of the school ventured that health is the basic asset of human being so one should inculcate healthy lifestyle to achieve their goals in their life.

“SAHODAYA INTER SCHOOL PAPER BAG MAKING” competition

SAHODAYA INTER SCHOOL PAPER BAG Competition was held In DRV DAV CENTENARY PUBLIC SCHOOL, PHILLAUR on 28 August,2019. 35 different schools of the region participated in this competition. The theme of the competition was Indian Festivals and students very well depicted the theme with their innovative ideas . The judges of the competition were from different areas of the state. Art Teacher, MS. Neeru Kapoor (Sacred Heart Convent School, BRS Nagar , Ludhiana), Young Entrepreneur ,owns gift packing business Ms. Vishali Gulati and Fine Arts teacher Ms. Akarshi from Amritsar were the judges of the competition.
The art of paper –making has evolved over the period of time . The greatest advantage of paper lies in its environmental friendly property. Given the amount of pollution and damage that plastic bags render to the environment, paper bags are indeed a great relief for our eco-system. So the competition aimed for the promotion of utilizing paper bags in their day to day life.. Students made very attractive paper bags with beautiful decoration using apt accessories. All the teams were allotted names based on the theme of the competition such as Pongal, Holi, Baisakhi,Dhanteras,Bihu,govardhan Puja ,Lohri etc. to give the competition essence of festival.
